Wendy Alec
Wendy Alec is an author and TV host. She has written several books, including the epic fantasy series, Chronicles of Brothers. Along with her husband Rory Alec, she is the co-founder of GOD TV,[1] and co-host of The Rory & Wendy Alec Show.[2] She is also the GOD TV’s Creative Director.[3]
Biography
Alec was born in London and grew up in Durban, South Africa. She trained in Speech & Drama before working in the advertising industry in Johannesburg first as a copywriter[4] and then as the creative director of a TV production house.[5] She married Rory Alec in 1987 and the couple moved to the UK in 1991 [6]
In addition to her role in television, Alec has several screenplays presently in development. She was coached in screenplay writing from Hollywood professionals and says her approach to writing is unusual:
My whole life has been saturated in the media, creating TV programming and visuals and as a Creative Director, before I see words, I see images. As soon as I sit down to write my mind is invaded with visuals and I've been blown away by the thousands of readers that write saying they’ve actually been able to see the books as they turn the pages, just like they’re watching a movie.” [7]
According to an interview with the 700 Club: Alec "had to ask God for permission to write The Fall of Lucifer and each part of the book. Wendy was very careful with her choices of writing and where the novel has gone. She always was seeking God's approval on everything." [8]
Chronicles of Brothers
Since its launch in 2005 the Chronicles of Brothers epic fantasy saga has sold over a quarter of a million copies and has developed a mass following.[9] Originally written as a screenplay, the first book in the series, The Fall of Lucifer was released in January 2006; the second book, Messiah—The First Judgement in November 2007 and Son of Perdition in December 2009. The fourth book in the series, A Pale Horse, is currently being written. Alec plans to turn the books into movies.[10]
The Chronicles books have been listed in the UK Book retailer, Waterstones’ Best-selling Fantasy Fiction Books.[11] The UK Association of Christian Teachers has also listed the Chronicles books among their ‘Top Sellers in Science Fiction and Fantasy’.[12]
According to Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Fall of Lucifer has received favourable reviews[13] and Charisma magazine calls it ‘a supernatural thriller’.[14]
Borders Bookshop describes Messiah as ‘a best-selling adult fiction/fantasy novel.’ [15]
Son of Perdition registered in the UK Small Publishers: Top 20 Fiction for four consecutive weeks in December 2009.
Wendy Alec summarizes the plot of Chronicles in an interview with BookThink's Clair Main: “The saga revolves around three Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Lucifer who are brothers, and in the third novel, Son of Perdition, it jumps from heaven to earth, to three human brothers, the De Vere brothers. All seven books revolve around two sets of brothers - the Archangel brothers and the brothers from the Race of Men.[16]
